The story
Shami Kebabs are a popular dish in Pakistan, and they have a history that dates back to the Mughal era. The origin of Shami Kebab is be lieved to be the Middle East, and it was introduced to South Asia by the Mughal rulers who brought many other aspects of their rich cul ture, including their cuisine. The name "Shami" comes from the region of Bilad al-Sham, covering modern-day Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Pales tine, and Israel, which was renowned for its culinary arts in the medie val Islamic world. Over the years, Shami Kebabs have been localised to the tastes of the Indian subcontinent with additions of regional spices and ingredients. Today, these delectable minced meat patties are a staple in Pakistani cuisine, often served with tea, used as an appetizer, or included in the main course for special occasions and during Ramadan.
