Tribal People Try Cooking Videos

The cooking videos: the tribe making their own food — biryani in a giant deg, saag with makai ki roti, chapli kebabs, village bread in the tandoor — or trying to cook a foreign dish for the first time from written instructions.

When the tribe cook their own food, the videos are a masterclass in outdoor, wood-fire cooking with no measurements. When they attempt pizza or pancakes from a recipe, the fun is in the improvisation, and the result is usually better than expected.

Everything is cooked on a chulha or an open fire, in steel and clay, with onions chopped on a wooden board on the ground. It is the oldest cooking on the channel and the most watched.

If you cook it: Whatever the recipe says, fry the onions longer.
