Tribal People Try Brownie
About this video
Tribal People Try sits the tribe down with cake. It's filmed in the village, not a studio, and what you see is what happened on the day.
What is cake?
Cake covers birthday sponges, chocolate fudge cake, carrot cake, red velvet, black forest and the American layer cakes covered in buttercream. Bakery cake is common in Pakistani cities; the elaborate frosted kind is what the videos usually feature.
What to watch for
Frosting is the divide. A thick layer of American buttercream is sweeter and greasier than anything the village bakes, and the usual move is to eat the sponge and leave the icing. Chocolate cake wins; red velvet is treated with suspicion.
The comparison they always make
Cake is a city thing bought for weddings and birthdays. Home sweets are halwa, kheer and mithai, all far less sweet than a frosted American slice, whatever people assume.
This episode
It's the tribe's 20th cake video out of 23. They first tried it in August 2020 ("Tribal People Try American Brownie for the First Time"). The most-watched cake episode is "Tribal People Try Homemade Brownies for the First Time" (718K views). The video runs about 6 minutes and went up in December 2024.
