How can we help?
The questions we get most, answered plainly. If yours isn’t here, contact us — a person replies within two working days.
Getting started
Do I need an account to use the site?
No. Every video and recipe is free to read without signing in. You need an account (free) to save favourites, and a membership for the planner.
How do I sign in?
Three ways, all landing on the same account: Google, a one-time code we email you, or an email address and password. If you forget the password, use Forgot password — the link works for one hour. You can add or change a password any time under Account → Password.
How do I put the app on my phone?
Open tribalpeopleshop.com in Safari (iPhone) or Chrome (Android), then Share → Add to Home Screen. It installs with the channel logo and works like an app, including notifications. Step-by-step with pictures: /install.
Is there an app in the App Store?
Not yet. The home-screen app above is the same thing without the store: no download size, always up to date.
The planner
What does the planner actually do?
You describe your household once — how many people, weeknight time, diets, allergies, spice, what you avoid. Each week it fills your meal slots with recipes that reuse ingredients, builds one shopping list grouped by aisle, and reminds you before dinner. Swap any meal, type your own, add sides and notes, drag things around.
Can I change the slots (breakfast / lunch / dinner)?
Yes — rename, add or remove slots, set a reminder time per slot, and switch on Ramadan mode (Sehri and Iftar) with one toggle. Rules let you say things like “no repeats within 5 days”, “biryani every Friday” or “leftovers on Tuesday”. Find it under Plan → Customise.
How do households work?
One membership covers up to five people. Invite them by email from Plan → Household; everyone sees the same week, list and pantry, and each person chooses their own reminders.
Can I add my own recipes?
Yes, in a minute: photo, ingredients in your own words, steps. Paste a recipe from WhatsApp or Notes and it sorts itself; paste a link from any recipe site to import it; or make “my version” of one of ours. Your recipes stay private unless you submit one for publication — we review every submission by hand.
What are reminders and how do they arrive?
A notification at the time you choose: “Tonight: chicken karahi · 35 min”, a morning prep nudge, and a Saturday note when next week’s plan is ready. Push notification on your phone (after you add the app to your home screen) or email — you choose per reminder under Account → Reminders.
What is cook mode?
A full-screen, one-step-at-a-time view with big text that keeps the screen awake and reads each step aloud. Turn on voice control and say “next”, “back”, “repeat”, “how much salt” or “timer 8 minutes”. It works on any recipe, free.
Shopping, stores and scanning
How does the shopping list work?
Every recipe on your week goes into one list. Quantities are merged (“3 onions” not three lines), items are grouped by aisle in the order you set for your store, and anything in your pantry is skipped. Tick things off in the aisle, share it to WhatsApp, print it, or send it to Instacart in the US and Canada.
Which stores and countries are supported?
Store links work in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom — Walmart, Kroger and its banners, Target, Costco, Loblaws, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and more. Every item becomes a one-tap search in your store, using the name that store uses (cilantro in the US, coriander in the UK). Live prices are available from stores that publish them, starting with Kroger in the US; we take no commission and links go to the plain product page.
What does barcode scanning do?
Scan a pack to add it to your pantry or freezer, or scan in the aisle to tick it off the list. The camera picture never leaves your phone — only the number is sent to look the product up. You can also note what you paid, which feeds your household’s price comparison.
Recipes and videos
Are the recipes halal?
Our cookbook recipes are village Punjabi cooking. Every recipe we write ourselves is halal with no alcohol. The wider library shows every ingredient and you can filter by halal, vegetarian, vegan and more. Always check labels for allergens.
Where do the recipes come from?
Our two cookbooks (the Tribal Cookbook and the Ramadan Cookbook), recipes we write for the dishes the tribe tried on camera, and a curated set of international recipes rewritten and tested by us. Photos are ours or used under open licences, credited on the page.
How do I find a specific video?
Search by dish, brand or cuisine — “pizza”, “KFC”, “biryani” — and you get only those episodes, most watched first. Every dish also has a hub page with all its videos and recipes.
Can I use the videos or recipes elsewhere?
Videos play from YouTube under YouTube’s terms. Recipes may be printed and shared for personal use; please don’t republish them. For anything commercial, email info@tribalpeopleshop.com.
Membership and billing
What does it cost?
$3.99 a month, $29 a year ($2.42/month), or $69 once for lifetime access. Monthly and yearly start with a 3-day free trial; a card is required to start it. All plans include every feature.
What happens after the free trial?
We email you the day before it ends. If you do nothing, your card is charged for the plan you chose and membership continues. If you cancel before it ends, you pay nothing.
How do I cancel?
Account → Billing → Cancel. Two taps, no phone call. You keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and nothing renews after that.
Can I get a refund?
Cancel during the trial and there is nothing to refund. We refund charges made in error, duplicate charges and anything the law requires; we don’t refund periods already started otherwise. Details: Refund & Cancellation Policy.
My payment failed. What now?
We email you and keep your access for a few days while you update the card under Account → Billing. After that, member features pause until a payment goes through — nothing is deleted.
Where does the money go?
The membership is how the channel pays the people in the videos — a share of every subscription goes to the participants and their families. That is why the videos and recipes are free and the planner is not.
Privacy and your data
What do you collect?
Only what the product needs: your email and name, planner preferences, the recipes and lists you create, and payment records without card numbers. No advertising trackers, no third-party analytics. Full detail in the Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my account?
Account → Danger zone → Delete account. It cancels any subscription and removes your data immediately. Invoice references are kept as tax law requires.
How do I stop the emails?
Announcement emails: the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of them works instantly. Reminders: Account → Reminders. Sign-in codes and receipts only arrive when you trigger them.
Still stuck?
Email support@tribalpeopleshop.com with the address on your account and what you were trying to do.
