New! Tribal People Try Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich
About this video
Tribal People Try sits the tribe down with sandwiches. It's filmed in the village, not a studio, and what you see is what happened on the day.
What is sandwiches?
A sandwich is anything between two slices of bread, and most countries have a favourite: the American club, the British cheese and pickle, the Vietnamese banh mi, the grilled cheese. Subway made the long sandwich a chain.
What to watch for
Cold fillings between cold bread are the sticking point — village food is served hot. Toasted or grilled sandwiches do far better than cold ones, and anything with a fried egg or spiced chicken is accepted immediately.
The comparison they always make
Roti and salan is the original sandwich here. Sliced white bread is shop-bought, used mostly for breakfast with tea, so a filled sandwich as a meal feels like a snack pretending to be dinner.
