Tribal People Try Pie
Every time the tribe has tasted pie: 17 videos of first impressions from villagers in rural Punjab, Pakistan, usually American food they have never seen before.
Also covers: pies, apple pie, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, tart, tarts, cobbler
Pie is a pastry case filled with something sweet or savoury and baked: American apple and pumpkin pie, British steak pie and shepherd's pie, Australian meat pies. The videos include both dessert and dinner pies.
Savoury pies make immediate sense — meat inside bread is a samosa idea — and go down well. Sweet pies with cinnamon and soft fruit are more foreign; pumpkin pie in particular, since pumpkin here is a vegetable for salan.
Samosa is the village pie. Any pastry with filling is measured against a good samosa, and the pastry usually loses on crispness while the filling is judged case by case.
